#CUWStatsInfo: Mosser, Valentine in elite class with triple-doubles

MEQUON, Wis. – Recording a triple-double in a volleyball match has been rare at Concordia University Wisconsin, but those in attendance at Tuesday's match against Lakeland College saw just the fifth recorded since 2007. Carley Valentine and Annie Mosser are in a class of their own, having each accumulated three and two triple-doubles during their careers, respectively.

It takes a versatile player to do something so infrequent, but Mosser and Valentine are elite with their abilities. All five triple-doubles were of the kills, assists and digs variety. Valentine nearly made history on Tuesday after coming up just three blocks shy of a quadruple-double.

Below is a breakdown of the five triple-doubles in program history since 2007:

Carley Valentine, Oct. 1, 2013 versus Lakeland College
The Falcons were unable to upend the visiting Muskies and fell 3-2 (25-20, 26-24, 22-25, 26-28, 13-15) in a conference match at home. Valentine ended the match with 15 kills, 22 assists and 12 digs, to go along with seven blocks. The junior paced the team in kills and had several chances to score the match-point kill.

Carley Valentine, Sept. 21, 2103 at Ripon College
Valentine's 11 kills, career-high 35 assists and 13 digs helped the Falcons win their first five-set match of the season 3-2 (22-25, 13-25, 28-26, 25-16, 15-13) over Ripon College at the Red Hawk Invitational. CUW hit .268 in the third set and .500 in the fourth and fifth frames.

Carley Valentine, Sept. 14, 2012 against Ripon College
CUW was unable to down Ripon College 3-1 (23-25, 22-25, 28-26, 21-25) behind Carley Valentine's 14 kills, 17 assists and 16 digs. The then-sophomore who transferred from St. Norbert College was playing in just her 10th match since becoming a Falcon.

Annie Mosser, Sept. 10, 2007 at Dominican University
The Falcons earned their first league win of the 2007 with a 3-1 (26-30, 30-26, 30-21, 30-19) win over the Stars. Mosser recorded her second triple-double in just 11 days after accumulating 13 kills, 21 assists and 20 digs. During the match she served nine-consecutive points to help CUW win the third set.

Annie Mosser, Aug. 31, 2007 versus Concordia University Chicago
A thrilling five-set victory propelled the Falcons to a 3-2 (30-32, 30-21, 27-30, 30-27, 18-16) win over the Cougars. They would go on to win the Concordia Invitational Tournament inside the R. John Buuck Field House. Mosser finished with 11 kills, 28 assists and 10 digs in the victory.

Both Mosser and Valentine were exceptional athletes with a massive amount of potential. It is unknown, but a high probability, that Valentine could amass the numbers for another triple-double this season or next before her career ends.
