Damaschke, Ambrocio earn Male Career Achievement Awards
MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Athletic Department has announced that Austin Damaschke and Sean Ambrocio have been honored as Co-Male Career Achievement Award recipients, for their impressive four-year careers with the Falcons.
CUWFalcons.com is in the process of releasing each of its four major awards from the 2014-15 season. Last week, Sammi Reiter (Women's Lacrosse, Women's Hockey) was honored with the Female Career Achievement Award. Next Thursday, the Male Athlete of the Year will be announced, followed by the Female Athlete of the Year on July 9. The awards were selected by a small committee of coaches and athletic department personnel.
Damaschke (Bristol, Wis.) and Ambrocio (San Antonio, Texas), who were honored as Co-Male Athletes of the Year in 2013-14, both finished off impressive careers in their respective sports this past athletics year. Damaschke was the leader of the Falcons football program, while Ambrocio was a member of the wrestling program.
Damaschke, the 2013 NACC Offensive Player of the Year, rewrote the CUW record books during his four years on the gridiron. In 2014 he led all players in Division III football in averaging 378.3 total offensive yards per game.
In addition he finished as the NACC all-time leader in total offensive yards with 11,702, over 4,000 yards more than the next highest total. He also ranked first in the NACC in pass completions (821), pass attempts (1,364), passing yards (9,963) and passing touchdowns (85).
Damaschke was also a finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy in 2013, one of 10 players for the highest award in Division III football. In addition, this past season he was a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete, which was awarded to just 17 players nationally, only two of those coming from the Division III ranks.
Ambrocio also finished off an impressive career as he was a three-time national qualifier in leading the Falcons wrestling program. His best season came in 2013-14 when the then junior was an All-American at 125 pounds. He was the only three-time national qualifier in program history, reaching nationals in each of his first three seasons.
During his career, Ambrocio picked up 102 victories, including a career-best 33 during his sophomore season. His 102 victories were fourth most in program history.
Ambrocio was a four-time Northern Wrestling Conference champion, winning three of those titles at 125 pounds, and one at 133. He also served as a team captain for the Falcons for two seasons and helped his team to four straight NWC championships.
