Athletics to debut multi-camera broadcasting in 2018-19

MEQUON, Wis. – For the first time ever, fans watching the Falcon Athletic Network will see a vast improvement in the production of live video streams, with the implementation of multi-cameras, graphics, commercials and replays.

The Falcon Athletic Network (The FAN) will produce multi-camera video streams for nearly all 2018-19 home athletic events with the assistance of a large student staff. The FAN will provide live video of the majority of Falcon home events across all sports with coverage based on scheduling and staffing.

"With the help of Steve Taylor (Vice President-Student Life) and Dr. Rob Barnhill (Director of Athletics), we were able to secure the funds to purchase the equipment to make a giant leap forward in our abilities to provide a high-definition feed that fans will be pleased to watch every game," Director of Athletic Communications Steven Schauer stated. "It also gives our student staff the opportunity to learn about the importance and difficulties of producing a live stream with numerous moving parts."

Concordia Wisconsin has been live stream home athletic events for over five years on various platforms and this year fans can watch a video only live stream via its Stretch Internet portal or follow live statistics and video on the same page by clicking on the live statistics link on each sport's schedule page. Fans can watch Falcon teams across computers, phones and tablets. Following a live broadcast, each game will be archived and available for viewing through the on-demand feature of the Falcons' Stretch Internet portal.

All content on Falcon Athletic Network is available to viewers free of charge.

"The Falcon Athletic Network will continue to give more exposure to our student-athletes and allow fans from around the country to follow Falcon athletics," said Schauer. "We're looking forward to showing off our athletic programs and bringing the Concordia Wisconsin community closer together."

In past years fast watching received a one-camera video stream with a scoreboard overlayed on the bottom.

The Falcon Athletic Network is a product of the Department of Athletic Communications and provides opportunities for Concordia Wisconsin students to gain hands-on experience in the different facets of producing a live video broadcast.
