MEQUON, Wis. – The 2013-14 athletic year at Concordia University Wisconsin saw many inspirational moments by student-athletes and countless victories on a variety of levels. The initial list of top stories was long, but was eventually narrowed to top (honorable mention and top five).

The list was compiled by the Athletic Communications Department and a committee of coaches, and like all lists is subject to debate. The list of top stories will be revealed over the next six weeks with a story being released each Tuesday.

Honorable Mention
Lacrosse breaks nearly every record

It was rare for a Concordia University Wisconsin lacrosse game recap to not talk about multiple records broken during a win. In fact, several records were set in almost every game throughout the 2014 campaign.

Lacrosse is a team sport and that held true throughout this spring as both program's set the new mark for victories, with the men's team winning 14 games and the women's team earning 12 decisions. In all, the offense was on high display and the defense shut down the opposition frequently.

The men's program, led by first-year head coach Michael Fahey, set 15 new season records and broke four game records. They outscored opponents by a 254-120 ratio and put together a glossy 9-1 Midwest Lacrosse Conference record. CUW was also an impressive 9-2 mark at Fitting Field. They also hosted their first MLC Tournament game in late April.

Equally as outstanding was the women's team, led by fourth year head coach Emily Mason, which set 13 season records and broke six game records. They led the nation in ground balls with a 33.29 per game average. Early in the season, it wasn't uncommon for the Athletic Communications Department to take 15-30 minutes to update the record book and search for every record that was set for the post-game story.

They put together an exciting 8-2 record during Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play and an 8-2 record at Fitting Field. CUW made opposing defenses look meaningless at times and won 10-of-12 games by double-digits and scored 20 or more goals six times.

The 2014 season for the lacrosse program's at CUW were entertaining and the future is bright. The first senior class has graduated and the teams are established for the future, but what record will be broken next?
