This weekend in Falcon athletics: Nov. 2-3
MEN'S HOCKEY
This weekend: CUW takes on
Lawrence University (0-0-0, 0-0-0 MCHA) in a home-and-home series.
The Falcons host the Vikings on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Ozaukee Ice
Center before traveling north for a 7 p.m. matchup at the Appleton
Family Ice Center.
Last week: The Falcons dropped a pair of difficult Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association matchups against rival MSOE. They lost 6-1 on Friday (Oct. 26) night before pushing the Raiders to the edge, but fell 3-2 on Saturday (Oct. 27). CUW scored two power-play goals in the second period of Saturday's game.
Need to Know: All three of the Falcons goals this season have been in power-play fashion. CUW leads the MCHA in power-play percentage (.214) after converting 3-of-14 chances. Freshmen Kyle Gaskin (Kingston, Ontario), Franco Loparco (Toronto, Ontario) and Devin Stuermer (Milwaukee, Wis.) have all found the back of the net for the Falcons.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY
This
weekend: CUW (0-2-0,
0-0-0 NCHA) makes its first road trip of the year, a 400-plus mile
and seven-hour drive to Duluth, Minn., for a two-game series with
the College of St. Scholastica (0-0-0, 0-0-0 NCHA). The games will
be the first conference contests for both programs and the opening
games of the 2012-13 schedule for the Saints.
Last week: The Falcons dropped a pair of home non-conference contests to begin their season. On Friday (Oct. 26) they lost 3-1 to No. 8-ranked Concordia College Moorhead, 4-1, before St. Mary's University took a 4-1 game.
Need to Know: Both of CUW's goals were scored by freshman Olivia Vogel (Andover, Minn.), while freshman Michelle Musil (Maple Grove, Minn.) assisted on both markers. Sophomores Kaitlyn Evans (Fairbanks, Alaska) and Andrea Mizanskey (Palos Heights, Ill.) split time between the pipes recording 26 and 30 saves, respectively.

MEN'S SOCCER
This
weekend: CUW (11-7-2)
plays for an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament when it travels
to top-seeded Dominican University (15-2-1) for a 1 p.m. Northern
Athletics Conference Tournament Championship Match.
Last week: The Falcons, ranked third in the NAC, defeated Wisconsin Lutheran College, 2-0, in the opening of the NAC Tournament on their home turf on Sunday (Oct. 28). They then traveled to Aurora University for mid-week (Oct. 31) NAC Tournament semi-final match and walked away with a captivating penalty kick victory, 4-3, after both teams were tied 1-1 with two overtimes played.
Need to Know: Three different Falcons have scored in the postseason tournament, senior Kyle Sytsma (Antioch, Ill.), freshman Keegan Van Dusseldorp (Burlington, Wis.) and senior Tyler Harris (De Pere, Wis.). Senior goalkeeper Sam Ische (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) has recorded 14 saves in the two matches.

FOOTBALL

weekend: CUW (5-3, 4-1
NAC) makes its final regular season road trip when it travels to
Aurora University (4-4, 3-2 NAC) for a 1 p.m. contest at Vargo
Field. The Falcons have won five of their last six
games.
Last week: Sophomore Garrett Wenzelburger caught two touchdown passes in the second quarter to lead the Falcons to a 40-3 rout of NAC foe Rockford College. Sophomore quarterback Austin Damaschke completed 16-of-23 passes for 180 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, CUW finished with five sacks and 11 tackles for loss.
Need to Know: Damaschke ranks first in the league with 1,846 yards passing, while senior Matt Upson (New Berlin, Wis.) ranks second in the league with 86 total tackles. Senior Matt Lechler (New Holstein, Wis.) leads all players with five sacks.
