CUW finishes well in Learfield Sports Director's Cup standings

CLEVELAND – Another strong athletics season has come and gone for Concordia University Wisconsin in 2013-14. The Falcons once again showcased some of the top athletics teams in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, finishing second among those schools in the final Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings.

CUW collected 94.50 points in the standings. The Falcons gained 25 points in during the fall season, 35.50 during the winter and 34 more in the spring. Points are accumulated by performances in NCAA Tournament play.

The Falcons Football team earned the school 25 points by qualifying for the NCAA Tournament after winning the NACC with a perfect 6-0 record. CUW then received 35.5 points in Wrestling after Sean Ambrocio wrestled to an All-American status at the NCAA Championship. The Women's Golf team rounded out the Falcons NCAA Tournament teams, by gaining 34 points and appearing in the Championship in May.

Aurora University was the highest NACC school after securing 115 points, 57 coming in the fall and 58 coming in the spring. Edgewood College was next in line among NACC schools after the Falcons.

Williams College won an unprecedented 17th Learfield Sports Directors' Cup in the past 19 years. They finished with 1,225.25 points and scored points in 18 sports, the most a school is permitted to score points in. UW-Whitewater finished second in the standings.
