MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin's Athletic Department has announced that Ashley Solberg of the Women's Tennis, Women's Basketball and Women's Lacrosse programs has been named the 2018-19 Female Career Achievement Award winner.
The CUW Athletic Department released its top stories of the year over the past few weeks and this week will announce its four major award winners from the 2018-19 season. On Tuesday-Thursday, the announcements of the Male Career Achievement Award winner (Tuesday), Female Athlete of the Year (Wednesday) and Male Athlete of the Year (Thursday) will be published.
Solberg was a dominant tennis player during her four years on the court, earning NACC Player of the Year honors in 2017-18 and was named to the All-NACC Singles and All-NACC Doubles Teams all four years. During her time as a Falcon, she helped the program win three-consecutive NACC regular season and tournament titles while earning three-straight bids to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Waukesha, Wisconsin native compiled 120 combined singles and doubles victories, which ranks third all-time in program history.
After her rookie year, she joined the basketball team and over the course of time continued to make an impact. During her senior year she started all 28 games; averaging 8.0 points on 49.4 percent shooting, 5.4 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game. The forward helped the Falcons compile an outstanding 61-21 overall record and a 49-11 record in NACC play. They twice finished runner-up in the NACC Tournament.
With one last semester of eligibility, Solberg joined the lacrosse team. The Falcons tallied nine victories and won six-consecutive MWLC games at home during the second half of the season. She played in and started 12 games, picking up 21 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. While her statistics didn't stuff the stat line, she provided valuable experience and depth to the roster.
