Falcon stat of the week, by the numbers
STAT OF THE WEEK (17) – Concordia University Wisconsin Baseball drew 17 walks in two games against Edgewood College last Saturday. The Falcons reached base 11 times via walks in an 11-8 extra inning loss to the Eagles in the opening game of a Northern Athletics Conference twinbill, while walking six times in a thrilling 12-11 win in game two victory. Sophomore Brandon Seifert (Germantown, Wis.) drew four free passes in the two contests.
2 – Women’s Lacrosse had six players score at least two goals during its last two games. The Falcons saw five players find the back of the net twice during their 12-6 victory at Aurora University a week ago. Last Wednesday a pair of players tallied two goals. In all, sophomore Sammi Reiter (Stillwater, Minn.) led the team with four goals, to go along with two assists.
6 – Men’s Tennis begins Northern Athletics Conference play on Saturday with dual matches against Rockford College and Aurora University. The Falcons will play for their sixth conference title in the last seven years and third-consecutive NAC title. During the program’s history they have won at least a share of a regular season conference title in 13-of-14 seasons. Head coach Tom Weber has guided the Falcons to a 72-5 all-time record against conference opponents.
7 – Seven different softball players recorded base hits in each of team's upset wins over No. 16 St. Thomas University and No. 20 Carthage College last week in Florida. Against the Tommies, seven players combined for 11 base hits, led by senior catcher Abbie Goetsch (Grayslake, Ill.) who finished 3-for-3 with a walk off single. CUW finished with eight hits in a 5-4 eight-inning win over the Lad Reds as six players recorded one, while freshman leadoff batter Lexi Wagner (Richfield, Wis.) paced the offense with two.
18 – Men’s Lacrosse has succeeded this season because of a balanced offensive attack. Thus far, eight games played a total of 18 players have recorded a point (goal or assist). Junior Sam Wladyka (Winnipeg, Manitoba) leads the Falcons with 22 points (15 goals, seven assists) and has recorded three or more points in five games.
