CUW announces incoming student-athletes

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia University Wisconsin is pleased to announce the latest group of incoming student-athletes for the 2017-18 athletic year. The NCAA passed legislation for Division III which allows incoming student-athletes to sign a celebratory form to show they have committed to a respective institution and athletic program.

This list of student-athletes have an accepted deposit at CUW, signed the form and their respective coach had submitted information to CUWFalcons.com.

LaNea Bartel Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Kewaunee, Wis. Roncalli
Bartel is a four-year letter winner in both cross country and track...She has been the Girls Cross Country Team's number one runner since her sophomore year...And, in track, has competed in the 400, 800, and 1600 meter runs, and has anchored both the 1600 and 3200-meter relays.
 
Josh Bobke Men's Soccer Oconomowoc, Wis. Oconomowoc
Started varsity for three years and earned First Team All-Conference each year as well as honorable mention all-area during junior and senior years.
       
Mike Howell Men's Soccer Milwaukee, Wis. Greendale
Four-year letter winner and a four-year varsity starter...Second team all-state defender as a junior and Second Team All-State forward as a senior...Team captain my senior year and led the Woodland Conference senior year with 34 goals...Nominated to play in the Wisconsin All-Star game...Played three years in the MRL and one year in the premier league.

Two Year Varsity Player...Senior Starter and Varsity Captain...Currently playing with FC Lake County in the Illinois State Premiership Division...Previously played with Illinois Elite Clubs FC 1974 Libertyville and Chicago Magic Highland Park in Illinois State Cups, MRL and NISL Premiership Leagues and in Various Multi State Showcases...Three-Year AP Student at Grayslake North High School.
       
Ciara Bond Field Hockey/Women's Lacrosse Maplewood, Minn. White Bear Lake
Ciara will be joining the women's lacrosse and field hockey teams in the fall of 2017...She five-year year letter winner in lacrosse at attack and has captained the team for the past two seasons...Ciara is a two time All-Conference selection and was also recognized by her teammates for her outstanding leadership earning the Team Spirit, Queen of Ground Balls, Most Competitive and Top Playmaker awards in 2016 and 2017 seasons...During her five year varsity career, she led her team in scoring three times and has recorded over 175 career points...This season, she has nine goals and three assists in three varsity games...Ciara is also on the A/B Honor Roll and recognized as the Senior Student of and month in March and Senior Athlete of the Month in April 2017...She is also involved in several organizations such as the school Mentorship Committee, Peer Leadership Program and worked as a Teacher Assistant.

Callie will be joining the Falcons for their second season in the fall of 2017...Callie has played field hockey for University Lake School since her sophomore year...She was named Team MVP her junior and senior seasons and was an honorable mention all-conference selection in 2014 as a defender...Callie helped lead her team to win their pool at the Gateway tournament and to the first round of state playoffs this past fall...Also, a member of the Milwaukee Field Hockey Club where she has competed on their Elite U-16 and U-19 programs.
