MADISON, Wis. – The 2024 journey came to an end on Saturday afternoon for the Concordia Wisconsin women's volleyball team in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament Finals. The top-seeded Eagles defended the Edgedome with a 25-19, 25-20, 25-20 victory to advance to the NCAA Division III Tournament with a 24-9 record.
The Falcons held an early lead on Saturday afternoon and held a four-point lead on seven different occasions. Edgewood ended the first set on a 10-0 run to take the first set at 25-19. Junior Mickenzi Benter (De Pere, Wis.) had four kills to lead the first set.
Edgewood held the lead for a majority of the second set and held a five-point lead at 11-6. CUW trimmed the lead to 15-16, but Edgewood claimed the set at 25-20.
The Black and Red once again held an early and doubled up to the Falcons at 8-4. A kill from sophomore Skylar Kumprey tied the set at 11, and CUW elevated the lead to 16-13 with a block from junior Paige Stickney (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) and Mickenzi Benter. The Eagles closed the third set on a 5-0 run to claim the title.
Paige Stickney led the Concordia attack with eight kills on Saturday. She also had five blocks.
Freshman McKenna Oetzman (Reedsburg, Wis.) led the match with 19 assists. She finished with a double-double performance with 12 digs.
Junior Brianna Lundt (Brandon, Wis.) led the flock with 16 digs.
