Rainbow 6 National Champions

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW Rainbow 6 Siege team got it done in the 2021-22 season with a National Championship victory.

The team was headlined by freshmen Caeden Perry (Waunakee, Wis.) and Josh Imlah (Lombard, Ill), sophomores Sean Sullivan (West Bend, Wis.) and Jake Brennan (Grafton, Wis.), junior Austin Lichtenstein (Johnsburg, Ill.), and senior Joseph McIntyre Jr. (Hoffman Estates, Ill.).

The team competed in both the Fall and Spring season NECC playoffs. In both seasons, the Blue and White were knocked out in the semifinals.

That didn't stop them from making not only program history but also Wisconsin history.

With a 3-1 victory in the National Championship matchup with Fanshawe, the Falcons claimed the title of 2021-22 NECC National Champions which was both a first for not only the CUW esports team, but the first college program in Wisconsin to claim the title.

The squad also claimed the title of the state runner-up with a second-place finish in the Wisconsin R6 League after a defeat by Wisconsin-Madison.

"I told this team that if they all gave it everything they had for our entire week of Nationals, we will win. They did just that in our Bootcamp and our matches, and they are now Champions" Said head coach Lewis Smith. "We came in confident but were humbled with our first loss in Group Stage. Our team plays best with our backs against the wall though, so the run-through loser's brought out our best."

The Rainbow 6 team looks to double down on their title in the 2022-323 season with a championship already under their young belts.
