Falcons Snag Key Wins

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW esports team took care of some big matchups this week.

The Falcons started with a huge win against a second-place Carroll team in the title of Overwatch. Not only was this a big matchup because it was the first and second seeds duking it out for the top spot, but they did it face to face. The Falcons and the Pioneers took part in a LAN matchup at Tier 1 in Milwaukee on Thursday. The Falcons came away with a huge game one that saw a perfect map. Game two was another Falcon victory, but the Pioneers came out and took games three and four. The flock needed a bounce-back win in game five to secure the victory and they did just that with a come-from-behind victory.

The Falcon Rocket League team notched another sweep victory in a matchup with UWM Silver. Sophomore Zach Mulso (North Saint Paul, Minn.) had this to say after the matchup, "Good games, good vibes, but we need to clean up our gameplay for playoffs, but tonight was a good game." The Falcons won with scores of 4-1, 2-1, and 3-2. In their NECC matchup with Valparaiso, the Rocket League team grabbed another sweep victory with scores of 6-0, 3-2, and 3-0.

The Falcon League of Legends team suffered a tough 1-2 loss to Harper on Friday that saw game scores of 14-31, 35-25, and 9-30.

The Falcons took on UW-Platteville in the Wisconsin Rainbow 6 Siege semifinals and came out victorious on Saturday. They lost the first game with a score of 5-7 but came up with a pair of huge wins in games two and three with scores of 8-7 and 7-5. Their win here moved them into the championships with UW-Madison. They suffered a tough defeat in the championships to UW-Madison by a score of 3-7.
