Rainbow 6 Season Recap

By Joshua Klausmeier

MEQUON, Wis. - The CUW Esports Rainbow 6 Siege (R6S) team fought through one of the most trying seasons in the young program's history. They battled every day though to finish the Regular Season with a 4-3 record, making playoffs as the 4 seed. After winning their Quarterfinals matchup against Baker, CUW lost in the semifinals to eventual champion Murray State.

The R6S team consisted of Grant Andrada as the team captain, Jake Brennan, Sean Sullivan, Caeden Perry, Joseph McIntyre Jr., and Mason Braden. They competed in the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) in the Challengers division.

The team started the season hot with 2 wins, which resulted in some false confidence as those teams did not come anywhere close to their preseason expectations. Then came a slump for CUW. A poorly timed bye and a 2-game losing streak challenged the team, but they rallied back and were able to go 2-1 in their last three weeks of the season to clinch playoffs. "I'd say this is one of the most challenging seasons we've had just across any esport as a whole because of the ups and downs of it," said head coach Lewis Smith.

This team was a team that loved playing with each other through the whole season and was ready to get back to competing as soon as their playoffs ended. They were already trying to schedule their next practice and trying to schedule more competitions for them to play in. This team is hungry as ever for their championship win and will stop at nothing to achieve that.
