Esports Clinches No. 1 Seed with NECC Rocket League

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW esports team is just weeks away from playoffs and is starting to solidify their spots in the standings.

In their META League, the Rocket League team dropped their second in a row with a loss to Fresno State.  This is the first time that the Falcons have lost back-to-back games all season in the title of Rocket League as well as the first time they haven't won a single game in a matchup. They didn't let that get to them though as they faced off against Concordia Nebraska in their NECC League on Tuesday.  The Falcons took the three-game sweep to clinch the first seed in the tournament.  They continue their undefeated season with a perfect 7-0, NECC record.

After last week's loss, the Valorant team bounced back with a strong 2-1 victory over George Fox.  Leading the Falcons in eliminations was freshman Josh Imlah (Lombard, Ill.) with 63 as well as 18 assists.  Right behind him was sophomore Adam Hedman (Fond du Lac, Wis.) with 61 and 15.

Coming into the matchup with Texas A&M, the Smash squad was eying a perfect season being 7-0.  Unfortunately, that came to an end with this matchup that ended with a 0-2 loss for the Falcons.  Leading the Falcon effort was sophomore Angel Uriostegui (Round Lake, Ill.) with seven eliminations.  "An undefeated season would've been nice," Said captain DJ Ford, "but the real goal is winning the championship. So, this is just a bump in the road to get there." The Falcons look to bounce back on their way to the playoffs.
