Esports Endures Tough Competition

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW esports team took on some tough foes in their early-week matchups.  

The Rocket League squad got the week going with a META matchup with Alabama and a NECC matchup with Northcentral Tech. Their Alabama matchup was a tough one which handed the team its third META loss. The Falcons fell in three games with scores of 0-4, 1-4, and 2-3. In their matchup with Northcentral tech, the Falcons avenged their loss on Monday with a 3-1 victory that saw scores of 7-1, 3-4, 6-3, and 3-1. Senior Austin Esterly (Lombard, Ill.) led the Falcons with 11 of the 19 team goals in their second matchup.

The Call of Duty (CoD) team took part in a pair of matchups against Rio Grande and Shawnee State. The Falcons finished 1-1 in these matchups with a 3-1 victory over Rio Grande and a three-game loss to Shawnee State. The Blue and White moved to 11-6 in the Spring season with these two matchups.

In a Smash Bros matchup against Baylor, the flock moved to 1-5 on the Spring season with a 1-2 loss to the green and yellow. The Falcons came out victorious in game one with a 2-0 final, but Baylor snapped back with a pair of victories with final scores of 0-3 and 0-4.

The Falcons look to push back with the rest of their matchups this week.
