Rocket League End of Season Review

By Erik Arvis

The Concordia University Wisconsin Rocket League team has an incredibly successful and competitive season to look back on as their Fall season comes to an end. The team went undefeated in the NECC conference and 6-3 in the META conference with an overall Win/Loss record of 17-3. They lost in the first round of META playoffs but made it to the NECC finals and swept the other team, winning their first NECC title for Concordia in the last match of the semester.

The Rocket League team is led by Captain Austin Esterly who plays on the team with Aaron Huntley, Evan Moody, and Zach Mulso. After achieving so much this semester, there is a lot to look back on, "This season has been quite the rollercoaster. We started super-hot and undefeated in both leagues to the point where we were 12-0 between the 2 leagues," said Captain Esterly. With a team of dedicated, highly talented players it is no surprise that they won the NECC championship as the work they have put into Rocket League this semester shined.

With a team of veteran varsity players, the season started strong, going undefeated for a while and remaining dominant against most teams. Eventually, the team experienced some close losses at the end of the season in the META league, providing some good experience to learn from.

"Given the high expectations at the start of the Rocket League season, the team has excelled and proven their leading position in the conference," said Head Coach Lewis Smith. He also added that given their dominance in the NECC league, the team could've handled a higher division and tougher competitors, highlighting the players' passion for competition and desire to be the best team possible.

The success of the Rocket League team this semester is surely exciting as they prepare for the upcoming spring season. With lots to look forward to and a highly competitive season behind them, this group is sure to uphold and expand on their title as NECC champions in the future!
