Week of Wins for Esports Leading into Playoff Week

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW esports team is heading into playoff week and is ready to get the postseason rolling.

Leading up to the postseason, the Overwatch team improved to 5-3 in their META league after a forfeit victory from Culver Stockton. On top of this, the squad won their NECC matchup to extend their win streak to 5 matchups after a 2-1 victory over Highland CC.

After their forfeit win last week, the Rainbow 6 Siege team dropped a close matchup with CSUDH with final game scores of 5-7, 7-3, and 3-7. They enter the week sitting at 3-3 on the season.

Another team experienced a forfeit victory last week. The Valorant team won their second matchup of the year by forfeit from Slippery Rock on Thursday.

The League of Legends team continued their win streak with a 2-0 sweep of Clark Grey. The Falcons' effort was led by junior Andre Stewart (Green Bay, Wis.) as well as sophomore Joseph Buhler (Fort Worth, Texas) each putting up 13 eliminations.

The Falcons look toward the postseason. The first team on the docket is the Rocket League team. The squad is primed for a deep playoff run. They come into the META quarterfinals on a two-game skid but look to thrive in this win-or-go-home environment when they take on Colorado on Monday night.

Another team primed for a title run is the Smash team. Their last matchup ended their perfect season, but they look to start a new win streak as they take on Sacred Heart in the opening round of the META playoffs.

A third big matchup with playoff implications is Overwatch's Thursday pairing with Marian. This "Battle for Wisconsin" pits the first and second seeds against one another in a regular-season finale showdown. The Falcons look to end the Sabres' perfect record as they head into the playoffs next week.
