Falcons Finish First Segment of the Week

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW esports team began the heart of their playoff runs this week with a few key victories.

On Monday, the Rocket League team competed in the META Quarterfinals against Salisbury. The Falcons snagged a 3-0 victory with game scores of 3-0, 4-2, and 3-2. The Falcons advanced to the semifinals after a very spread-out performance with a huge team win. In their NECC Quarterfinal matchup with Carroll, the Falcons were eliminated by a 0-3 final with game scores of 2-3, 1-2, and 2-4.

Another team that was competing in the NECC Quarterfinals was the Valorant team. In a matchup with Central Methodist, the Falcons were able to snap a game one victory with a score of 14-12 but were defeated in the next two games by scores of 15-27 and 8-13. The Falcons look to redeem their matchup with a trip to Nationals in May.

In rounds one and two of the College Call of Duty (CoD) League Qualifier, the Falcons put up a pair of sweeps against St. Mary of the Woods and Louisville. The Falcons took games with scores of 250-115, 6-0, and 3-0 in matchup one and with scores of 250-211, 6-2, and 3-2 in matchup two. The Falcons were led by sophomore Sean Hofstetter (Columbia, Ill.) with 77 eliminations and a total of 1:09 hill time.

The Smash duo of teams one and two fell short of their goals with early exits from their playoffs. 

The Smash team one took on Baylor and fell with game scores of 0-1 and 0-2. The Smash team two took on Salisbury and fell with game scores of 0-6 and 0-2.

The Blue and White continue their run into the playoffs in the second half of the week.
