Falcons Falter in Front Half of Week

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW esports team hit a rough patch with a few of its titles in the early portion of the week.

The first Falcon team to compete was the College Call of Duty (CoD) League team. In their doubleheader with Butler and Lewis, the Flock split the night. Their matchup with Butler finished with a final 3-1 score with game scores of 226-250 in the first hardpoint map, 6-5 in search and destroy, 3-0 in control, and 250-233 in the second hardpoint map. Sophomore Sean Hofstetter (Columbia, Ill.) led the Falcons with 102 eliminations in the matchup. He added 1:12 of hill time as well. In the matchup with Lewis, the Falcons came out flat-footed with a 174 to 250 hardpoint loss to start. They won the first search and destroy map as well as the control map with scores of 6-2 and 3-0 respectively. They needed to win just one of the next two maps to send Lewis packing, but were defeated in the second hardpoint and second search and destroy games with scores of 218-250 and 4-6. Hofstetter led the Falcons in that matchup as well with 104 eliminations.

The Falcons Valorant team had a tough matchup in front of them with Murray State on Tuesday. The Falcons suffered a 0-2 matchup with game scores of 8-13 and 2-13 in the best of three series. Coach Slater had this to say after the defeat, "Another loss but we aren't scared for our season. Trust the process."

After a game one victory against SIUE, the Falcon CoD Academy squad suffered a 1-3 defeat.

Sophomore Reese Knapp (Milwaukee, Wis.) led the Falcons with 130 eliminations and 2:01 hill time. "Really tight, hard fought series," Said head coach Lewis Smith. "We love these. Just a couple small things they did better than us that we have to clean up for next matchup."

One of the Falcon squads that found solid success was the Rocket League team. After last season's success, the Falcons look to propel themselves even further this year. They did so with an undefeated series maintaining win over Carroll. The Falcons took the first two games with scores of 3-1 and 4-1. Carroll struck back with a game three win at 3-4 but was not able to hold off the potent Falcon offense with a 4-2 Falcon victory taking the 3-1 matchup win.

Sophomore Evan Moody (Milwaukee, Wis.) led the Falcons with five goals, two assists, and seven saves in the matchup.

The Falcon Halo squad suffered their second loss against Ohio State with a matchup score of 0-3.

The Falcons were defeated with game scores of 0-250 in strongholds, 15-50 in slayer, and 0-5 in capture the flag.

The Falcons look to snap back in next week's matchup.
