Esports Looks to Stay on Top in Upcoming Week

MEQUON, Wis. – CUW Esports is a relatively new program, but that isn't stopping them from having a momentous start to the season.  The Falcons have dropped just two of their competitions on the year with a lot of titles still working with a perfect record.

"There is perfection, then there is perfect perfection," says Head Coach Lewis Smith about his Rocket league team.  The squad put up some impressive numbers in their opening week seeing two 3-0 victories to stay at a perfect 2-0 clip on the season.  The team looks to stay "double-perfect" against a solid opponent in Texas A&M on Monday.

Another team that saw some success in their first week was the Valorant team.  They lost their first set to Alabama-Huntsville, but stormed back and reverse swept the best of three contests winning the match 2-1.  They look to follow up on their impressive NECC debut with a match against our neighbors to the north, facing the University of British Columbia.

In-state competition brings out only the most competitive of sides from either team.  This is no stranger to the rivalry that the Overwatch team has formed with the Carroll Esports squad.  Even in the short history of the program, Carroll has emerged as a strong opponent for the Falcons as the Overwatch teams look to compete for a top spot in the state.  These teams will face off in a NECC Week 2 heavyweight bout on Thursday.
