Smash Team on Fire in Esports First Half of the Week

MEQUON, Wis. – It is easy to have a hot start to the year.  It is harder to keep it going.  The CUW esports team has had no problem keeping their teams on fire as they blazed through the competition for the start of the week.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate put up some wild numbers taking the matchup with a 2-0 score and games that saw 6-0 and 7-0 individual scores.  Freshman Kellen Gonzales (Waukesha, Wis.) made moves posting seven and nine eliminations in the two-game matchup.  "I was on fire," said Gonzales putting the team on his shoulders and leading them to their sweep of Lawrence Tech.

The Rocket League team competes in both the META League as well as the NECC League during the first half of the week.  Both matchups saw 3-0 sweeps by the Falcons against Team META and Colorado State.  The META matchup saw impressive scores all around including a third game that saw a final score of 10-2.  This game saw all three Falcons scoring over three goals with senior Austin Esterly (Lombard, Ill.) putting up four and both Evan Moody (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Aaron Huntley (Green Bay, Wis.) netting two.  Esterly added a staggering five assists in game three on top of his four goals.  The Falcons continue to roll their competition losing just two of a combined 23 games in both leagues.

The Valorant team struggled on Tuesday putting up a close 0-2 loss with game scores of 11-13 and 10-13.  The Falcons effort was led by sophomore Adam Hedman (Fond du Lac, Wis.) putting up 42 of the Falcon 154 eliminations.

The Falcons continue their solid season and try and put some massive runs together.  Follow the Falcons esports team on Twitch for their live stream events.
