Chaotic Schedule Changes for Esports

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW esports team experienced some of the hiccups that many teams have been facing the last few seasons. With titles being able to be played remotely, the Falcon esports team wasn't affected much by the schedule shuffles over the last few seasons. They got a taste of it this week with some crazy changes in some of their titles.

On Monday, their first title went off without a hitch. The Falcon Rocket League team competed in the META League against Salisbury. In this matchup, the Falcons improved to 2-1 on the season with a 3-0 sweep and game scores of 2-1, 5-4, and 4-3. Sophomore Zach Mulso (North Saint Paul, Minn.) had this to say after the victory, "Pretty good team. If we lost focus it could have easily slipped but we kept our composure and pulled out a smooth win."

Another title that should have been played Monday night was the Call of Duty (CoD) matchup with Henderson.

This matchup ended up being pushed back to Wednesday which gave the Falcons a little more time to prepare.

The preparation paid off with a 3-0 sweep for the Falcons with game scores of 250-79, 6-2, and 3-0. Junior Cade Jahns (Ripon, Wis.) led the Falcons with 72 eliminations and 1:17 hill time.

The third title that was supposed to have a Monday double-header was Valorant. While they did have one go off on Monday, the second one took place on Tuesday. In a battle with Southwest Michigan, the Falcons fell by a quick 6-13, 6-13 matchup with a 0-2 sweep. In their Tuesday matchup with Central Methodist, the Falcons fell behind 0-1 after the first game, but reverse swept Central with back-to-back wins.

In the Tuesday Rocket League matchup with Carthage, the Falcons dropped their second of the NECC season and moved to 3-2. The Falcons lost with game scores of 1-6, 3-4, and 0-2.

Rainbow 6 Siege was supposed to play on Tuesday but had their matchup with Western Colorado moved to Wednesday. The Falcons were ready on Wednesday and it showed. The blue and white took the 2-0 victory with game scores of 7-1 and 7-5.

Freshman Caeden Perry had this to say after the matchup, "We felt super prepared for this match and it all paid off."
