Esports Enters Playoffs

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW esports team entered NECC playoff week this week.  A pair of Falcon titles competed in the first round of the playoffs while others finished up some of the last matchups of the regular season.

In week 10 of the College Call of Duty (CoD) League, the Falcons faced off with Toledo.  The Blue and White were defeated by a 1-3 final with a game three win.  The scores of the games were 99-250, 2-6, 3-2, and 187-250.  This moved the Falcons to 11-7 in the Spring season.  Junior Cade Jahns (Ripon, Wis.) led the Falcons with 111 eliminations and 44 seconds of hill time. 

The Smash Bros META league saw a split of the week with Smash one and two both competing.  Smash one saw a 0-2 loss to Baylor with scores of 0-1 and 0-5.  Smash two was able to secure a 2-0 final with scores of 5-0 on both maps.  The win clinched a playoff berth for Smash Bros team two.

The Falcon Overwatch team took on Concordia Nebraska in quarterfinal action of the NECC playoffs.  The Falcons won maps one, three, and four with a loss in map two.  The scores of the matchup were 2-1, 1-2 3-2, and 3-2.  The Falcons shook off the playoff jitters, but are ready to hit the grindstone and get back to dominating said coach Andrew Wahl.

The League of Legends team was the first title to fall and they were defeated by Saint John University by a 0-2 score.  The finals game scores were 6-25 and 13-38. 

The Falcons look to continue their playoff run in the coming weeks.
