Playoffs in Full Swing for Esports

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW esports playoff season is in full swing, and many teams are looking to make a championship run.

At the end of the week, the Rainbow 6 Siege team ended Western Colorado's perfect season with a 2-0 win with game scores of 7-2 and 7-1.  The Falcons were led by freshman Caeden Perry (Waunakee, Wis.) with 29 eliminations in the two-game matchup.  After his 11-elimination matchup, junior Grant Andrada (Plymouth, Minn.) had this to say, "This was such an amazing night. Our preparation was perfect and it result in ending WCU's perfect season. Great feeling to take into playoffs."  The Falcons start their playoff run this week.

A team that started their playoff run last week was the Valorant team.  After a hard-fought matchup, the Falcons lost the night 1-2 with game scores of 6-13, 7-5, and 6-13.  The Falcons were eliminated by Wake Forest in the quarterfinals of the META League playoffs.

In their final regular-season matchup, the Overwatch NECC team took on the undefeated Marian Sabres.  The Falcons fought hard but lost the matchup 0-3 with game scores of 0-1, 0-2, and 0-3.  The Falcons look to avenge this loss in the playoffs starting this week.

Another team gearing up for a deep playoff run is the League of Legends squad.  The LoL team heads into the playoffs with a 6-2 record after a 0-2 loss to North Alabama.

In this upcoming week, the Rocket League team takes on the esports team rival Concordia Nebraska.  Nebraska looks to complete the upset over the undefeated, first seeded Falcons on Tuesday night.

After a massive win over the undefeated, first ranked team in the NECC, the Rainbow 6 Siege looks to take on Baker in the NECC League quarterfinals on Wednesday.  CUW looks for revenge after Baker was one of the few teams to defeat them in the regular season.

A third squad heading into playoffs is the Overwatch team.  The NECC quarterfinals bring in Carroll to take on the Falcons.  CUW comes in as the third seed as well as the heavy favorite.  They look to show why they are looked at that way in this battle for Wisconsin.
