Sweeping on Senior Day

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons were hot off the plate today at Kapco Park.

The first runs of the day did not come until the bottom of the fourth when junior Jared Chesak (West Bend, Wis.) blasted a three-run home run to bring in junior Tristian Largent (Verona, Wis.) and senior Blake Gosswein (Barrington, Ill.).

Senior Sam Zarling (West Bend, Wis.) would join in on the fun in the bottom of the sixth with a single to right field to bring in Largent.

Junior Sam Beers (Janesville, Wis.) would double to center field, and three speedy Falcons would cross home plate; Zarling, senior Drew Johnson (Menasha, Wis.), and Chesak.

Junior Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.) would give the Falcons one more run in the bottom of the eighth to send Zarling across the plate.

The Warriors would attempt to come back with two runs in the top of the ninth but would fall short.

The Blue and White would come out of game one with an 8-2 victory.

Sophomore Tyler Drezek (West Allis, Wis.) would secure the win for the Falcons, pitching seven innings and seeing 29 batters.

Junior Zach Lutz (Hartford, Wis.) and senior Beau Wills (Coal City, Ill.) had an inning each seeing 11 batters between the two of them.

Game two would start shortly after the conclusion on the first.

Concordia would fire away in the first inning with a series of runs to kick off their lead.

Beers would start it off by sending junior Johannes Haakenson (Janesville, Wis.) home.

Junior Kyle Kosobucki (De Pere, Wis.) would reach first on an error to send Tillmon home.

Johnson would follow with a grand slam to send Largent, Gosswein, Kosobucki, and himself to home plate.

The Falcons would tally six runs on the board in just the first inning.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Falcons would go on another spree of runs, starting with a solo home run by Zarling.

Tillmon would follow with a double to centerfield to send Haakenson home.

Kosobucki would double to left field with an RBI from Tillmon.

The Blue and White would head into the fifth inning leading the Warriors 9-0.

Wisconsin Lutheran would finally get a run on the board in the top of the sixth, but the Falcons would bounce back with a home run from Haakenson in the bottom of the sixth.

Gosswein would single to shortstop for a run home from Beers.

The Warriors would attempt to keep this game alive with two more runs scored in the top of the seventh, but Beers would single in the bottom of the seventh sending Haakenson and Largent home.

The Falcons would secure the second game with a 13-3 victory over the Warriors.

Senior Bradlee Sumner (Ocala, Fla.) would get the win for the Falcons, as he pitched all seven innings. He saw 33 batters and sent 71 strikes over the plate.
