Baseball Reins in the Regents

Baseball Reins in the Regents

MEQUON, Wis. – The weather was nothing short of crazy today at Kapco Park. The Falcons were able to continue that theme today for their two series home match against Rockford.

The Blue and White won both games against Rockford in seven innings each.

Regents would take the lead in the first inning with one run in the first game, 1-0.

Concordia wouldn't put up runs on the board until the bottom of the second inning when senior Sam Zarling (West Bend, Wis.)  took the walk to bring junior Kyle Kosobucki (De Pere, Wis.) home.

C Aguirre would double down the left-field line to bring in Zarling, senior Blake Gosswein (Barrington, Ill.), and senior Drew Johnson (Menasha, Wis.).

Junior Daniel Hahn (Cudahy, Wis.) would send in sophomore Cole Aguirre (Chino Hills, Calif.) to give the Falcons a 5-1 lead going into the third inning.

Rockford would score their second and last run in the top of the third.

The Falcons continued their RBI streak with runs from Aguirre, Hahn, junior Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.), and Kosobucki to make it a 9-2 lead heading into the fifth.

Concordia wasn't finished yet. Junior Sam Beers (Janesville, Wis.) would double to left field and send Aguirre home in the bottom of the fifth.

Kosobucki would ground out to shortstop giving Hahn the chance to run home.

In the bottom of the sixth, Beers would seal the deal for the first game with a single up the middle to send Zarling and junior Jared Chesak (West Bend, Wis.) homeward bound.

Sophomore Tyler Drezek (West Allies, Wis.)  tallied 54 strikes out of the 92 pitches he had.

Junior Lucas Gitzlaff (Milwaukee, Wis.) gave the Regents 29 strikes out of his 48 pitches.

The Falcons were no match for the Regents in the second game, as they continued to keep the flame alive!

The Regents were able to score first in the first inning just as they did in the first game.

The Falcons would one-up them by scoring three runs in the bottom of the second, sending Chesak, Johnson, and Zarling home.

Rockford would score again in the third inning, but the Falcons would counter-act that again by sending in three more runs from Beers, Tillmon, and Gosswein.

Zarling would come in hot in the fifth inning with a triple to send Chesak to home, and then Zarling would steal home to increase the Falcons lead 7-2.

Johnson would have his fair share of fun by singling up the middle to send Kosobucki home in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Regents were able to put two more runs away in the seventh inning in hopes to secure another inning for them.

The Falcons would not let them fly into the eight as Gosswein, Zarling, Aguirre, Beers, and Hahn would all score in the bottom of the seventh to secure the win for the birds.

Senior Bradlee Sumner (Ocala, Fla.) would total 53 strikes in his 86 pitches against Rockford.

Sophomore Andrew Javoroski (Brown Deer, Wis.) would secure 21 strikeout of the 27 pitches for today's game.

The Falcons push to 7-2 for their season. They look to keep the streak alive as they head to Carthage College on Tuesday, Mar. 30, at 3 PM.
