Baseball sweeps NACC North weekly honors

MEQUON, Wis. – The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) announced Tyler Drezek and Sam Beers as the North Division Student-Athletes of the Week on Wednesday.

A sophomore from West Allis, Wisconsin, Tyler Drezek is claiming the NACC North Division Pitcher of the Week honor for the first time in his career. He made two appearances for the Falcons last week, posting a 1-0 record with 13 strikeouts. He received the start in CUW's season opener, holding Carroll scoreless over six innings while scattering two hits and striking out six before exiting the game without factoring into the decision. Drezek then earned the victory in relief against Northland on March 14, striking out seven while allowing one earned run over five innings of work.

A junior from Janesville, Wisconsin, Sam Beers is claiming the NACC North Position Player of the Week honor for the first time. Beers  helped the Concordia Wisconsin offense explode for 50 runs last week to open the season, finishing with nine runs on nine hits - including a triple and a home run - while also drawing two walks. After registering just one hit in the Falcons' season-opener at Carroll on March 8, he responded by going 4-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs, two walks, and five runs scored in CUW's 31-11 win in the return engagement with the Pioneers the following day in Mequon. Beers capped the week with a 4-for-4 effort with a triple, an RBI, two walks, two stolen bases, and four runs scored in a 16-6 win over Northland on March 14. For the week, he hit .643 with a .737 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

The Falcons return to play on Sunday against Augsburg at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minnesota.
