Two Falcons Land on ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Teams
MEQUON, Wis. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced its NCAA Division III All-Region Teams on Tuesday afternoon. Sam Beers and Blake Gosswein were named to the ABCA/Rawlings Midwest All-Region teams.
A junior from Janesville, Wisconsin, Sam Beers was named to the Midwest All-Region First Team at third base. In May, Beers was named the NACC North Division Co-Position Player of the Year and earned All-NACC North Division honors. Beers led the NACC with a .442 batting average and also recorded 69 hits and 41 runs, including 14 doubles, three triples and seven home runs. He also had 46 RBI and six stolen bases.
A senior from Barrington, Illinois, Blake Gosswein earned Midwest All-Region Third Team honors in the outfield. He was also named an All-NACC North Division selection. Gosswein recorded 57 hits and 43 runs. He drove in 29 RBI and had 14 doubles, two triples and two home runs. Gosswein also hit .390 and 14 stolen bases.
The Falcons also landed two all-region selections in 2017.
ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-America teams will be announced on Thursday, June 3.
The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
