Baseball continues to defend home field

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons remain unbeaten at Kapco Park in 2021 with a 16-6 victory over Northland on Sunday afternoon. The victory sends CUW to 2-1 on the young season.

The Lumberjacks were able to take an early lead with a run in the first inning.

CUW tied the game up in the bottom half of the inning when junior Sam Beers (Janesville, Wis.) scored on an error. CUW took the lead on a single from senior Drew Johnson (Menasha, Wis.) to score Beers.

Northland took the lead again in the third inning with a 4-2 lead.

The Falcons tied the game in the bottom half again when junior Daniel Hahn (Cudahy, Wis.) had a double through the right side of the inning to score Sam Beers and then junior Kyle Kosobucki (De Pere, Wis.) scored junior Sean Tilmon (Plainfield, Ill.).

The Blue and White pushed the lead up to 8-5 after the sixth inning with a pair of singles from Sean Tllmon and Kyle Kosobucki to score senior Sam Zarling (West Bend, Wis.) and  Daniel Hahn.

CUW scored two more runs in the seventh inning with a double from sophomore Cole Aguirre (Chino Hills, Calif.) to score senior Blake Gosswein (Barrington, Ill.) and the Daniel Hahn had a double down the left-field line to score Aguirre.

The Falcons were able to score six more runs in the eighth inning to enforce the mercy rule.

Sophomore Tyler Drezek (West Allis, Wis.) had seven strikeouts in the victory.

CUW is scheduled to travel to Concordia Chicago on Saturday.
