Baseball Smashes the Home Opener out of the Park

MEQUON, Wis. –After coming off an extra innings 4-3 loss against Carroll College, the Concordia Men's Baseball team fired away at the Pioneers on Tuesday night, starting with 12 runs in just the first inning. Sophomore Blake Breon (Geneva, Ill.) pitched five innings for the Falcons, holding the Pioneers to just two hits in the first inning. He would allow a total of five hits within five innings. He saw 24 batters.

In the bottom of the first inning, junior Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.) would begin the scoring drive for the Falcons with a single RBI to right field. He would bring in junior Daniel Hahn (Cudahy, Wis.).

Junior Kyle Kosobucki (De Pere, Wis.) would bring in junior Sam Beers (Janesville, Wis.), and senior Drew Johnson (Menasha, Wis.) would RBI to bring in Kosobucki and Tillmon.

Hahn would see the plate again in the first, and would send a three run homerun out to left field.

The Falcons wouldn't see another run come in until the fifth inning, but not before the Pioneers could secure two runs in the top of the fifth.

Junior Johannes Haakeson (Janesville, Wis.)  would send in Johnson for the bottom of the fifth inning.

In the sixth inning, Beers would send the ball over the fence for a two run homerun. Haakenson would follow with a grand slam to send in Johnson, Kosobucki, and Tillmon.

Other pitchers that got their chance on the mound at Kapco were senior Bradlee Sumner (Ocala, Fla.), freshman Connor Knott (Channahon, Ill.), junior Ryan Green (Green Bay, Wis.), and junior Lucas Gitzlaff (Milwaukee, Wis.).

The 31 runs are the second-most scored in program history.
