Falcons Lose the Battle of the Birds

MEQUON, Wis- The Falcons came out hot in the first inning against Carthage College. Junior Sean Tillmon (Plainfeld, Ill.) took a dinger out to left field to score first in the game.

Junior Tristian Largent (Verona, Wis.) would follow Tillmon into the second inning with a home run down the right-field line to make the Falcons up 2-0.

Carthage would score in the second with an RBI to head into the third with a 2-1 lead for the Falcons.

Junior Daniel Hahn (Cudahy, Wis.) would send in sophomore Cole Aguirre (Chino Hills, Calif.) in the fourth inning.

Junior Sam Beers (Janesville, Wis.) would ground out to shortstop to send in Hahn and make it a 4-1 lead for the Blue Birds.

Senior Drew Johnson (Menasha, Wis.) went for a double down the right-field line to send in senior Blake Gosswein (Barrington, Ill.) in the fifth inning.

The Firebirds would attack in the bottom of the fifth with four runs to tie the game at five.

The Falcons would remain scoreless in the sixth inning and let Carthage score three more runs.

In the seventh inning, Gosswein would send Tillmon home.

Concordia would score another run with a walk by Aguirre to let Gosswein score.

Carthage would score one more run in the bottom of the 8th to seal the deal with a 10-7 victory.

Freshman Ben Spiers (Waukesha, Wis.) would pitch three innings and only allow two hits.

 

The Blue and White are set to play a doubleheader at Benedictine on March 31, at 1 PM
