Baseball Rallies to Tie the Saturday Series at MSOE

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Falcons were able to get back to .500 in the NACC with a victory in game two of Saturday's doubleheader at MSOE. The Falcons were walked off again in game one with an 8-7 loss. The Blue and White responded with a 5-4 victory in the second game to send CUW to 14-11 on the year.

The Raiders won the race onto the scoreboard on Saturday with a run in the first inning.

The Falcons took the lead in the fourth inning off the bat of senior Drew Johnson (Menasha, Wis.) with a double to right-center field to score senior Blake Gosswein (Barrington, Ill.) and junior Jared Chesak (West Bend, Wis.).

Junior Johannes Haakenson (Janesville, Wis.) then scored Johnson on a single to right field.

The Raiders cut into the lead with a run in the sixth inning.

CUW added some cushion to the lead with home runs from junior Kyle Kosobucki (De Pere, Wis.) in the eighth inning and senior Sam Zarling West Bend, Wis.) and Kyle Kosobucki in the ninth inning to give the Falcons a 7-2 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth inning.

Sophomore Tyler Drezek (West Allis, Wis.) had a stellar performance in the start and had six strikeouts in the first eight innings.

The wheels fell off for the Falcons in the ninth inning and the Raiders scored six runs to secure the victory.

The Raiders struck first again in game two with another run in the first inning.

CUW took the lead back with four runs in the fifth inning.

Sam Zarling started the scoring with a sacrifice fly to score Chesak.

Johannes Haakenson then sent home Drew Johnson and Blake Gosswein on a single.

Junior Sam Beers (Janesville, Wis.) ended the fifth inning with a shot to left field to get Gosswein across home plate.

MSOE tied the game with two runs in the fifth inning and a run in the sixth inning.

Blake Gosswein gave the Falcons the lead in the eighth inning on a single to left field to score Jared Chesak.

Senior Bradlee Sumner (Ocala, Fla.) earned the victory with eight innings pitched and six strikeouts. Junior Beau Wills (Coal City, Ind.) earned the save and had two strikeouts in the ninth inning.

Johannes Haakenson had three of Concordia's nine hits.

CUW will host MSOE on Sunday afternoon at Kapco Park.
