No. 5 Platteville Tops CUW

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The No. 5-ranked Pioneers defended home court on Wednesday in a non-conference contest. The Falcons move to 1-3 on the young season with the 83-67 loss.

The fifth-ranked Pioneers took an early lead and pushed the lead to nine points at the 12:14 mark of the first half.

The Falcons did not fold and ate away at the Pioneer lead. A three-point basket for senior Garrett Hoffmann (Belgium, Wis.) gave CUW a 25-24 lead with under five minutes to play in the first half.

No. 5 Platteville took a 35-30 lead into halftime.

The Orange and Blue ballooned the lead to double-digit points three minutes into the second half and never looked back.

Senior Brandon Keller (Plymouth, Wis.) notched another double-double performance as he led the flock with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Garrett Hoffmann added 16 points from the bench.

The Falcons will travel north and take on NCAA Division II's Northern Michigan Wildcats on Sunday.
