MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's basketball team edged out the Scarlet Hawks in a thrilling victory inside the R. John Buuck Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons started with a bang with a three-point field goal from senior Garrett Hoffmann (Belgium, Wis.) to open the half.
After a back and forth beginning of the first half, the Falcons broke the game open after a 13-4 run late in the first led by Hoffmann with two three-point buckets.
The Falcons went into the half with a 38-33 lead after two baskets from senior Brandon Keller (Plymouth, Wis.)
The second half started back and forth again with the Scarlet Hawks never going down without a fight.
IIT took the lead at the 12-minute mark with a 52-51 lead. They extended their lead to 55-51 in the next minute and a half.
The Falcons never gave in, taking a 61-57 lead at the 8:44 mark with two free throws by senior Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.).
The Blue and White finished the game on a 15-11 run with a final score of 76-68.
Hoffmann led the Falcon offense with 14 points. He added two steals and a block to his total.
Junior Jared Jurss (Sheboygan Wis.) led the Falcons with 11 assists. He also scored nine points.
Keller led the Flock with 18 rebounds posting a career-high for himself. He also scored eight points and blocked two shots.
The Falcons improved to 4-1 in conference play and took first place in the NACC.
The Blue and White head to St. Norbert on the 18th to try and extend their winning streak to five games.
