Falcons Sink St. Norbert in the NACC Semifinals

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons are onto the championship game after a thrilling victory on Friday night. The Blue and White shot down St. Norbert with an 88-79 victory to improve to 14-10 on the year. The Green Knights are grounded with a 16-10 record.

"I am really proud of the team," said head coach Shawn Cassidy. "They showed a lot of resilience tonight and it was a great team win. Our fans were amazing once again and we are excited to be home again on Sunday."

The Falcons came out to a blistering start on Friday night with a 17-0 lead. The Blue and White landed five three-point baskets in the run with senior Garrett Hoffmann (Belgium, Wis.) leading the way with three triples.

A three-point basket from junior Jared Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.) put the Falcons ahead by 18 points with 14:08 left in the first half.

The Green and Yellow did not fold and continued to chip away at the lead. SNC took the lead for the first time on the evening with a three-point basket with 48 seconds left and held the 39-36 lead into halftime.

The Green Knights pushed the lead up to five points before the Falcons flew back.

A three-point basket from Garrett Hoffmann gave the Falcons the lead again at 50-47 and they never gave it back.

Senior Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.) helped the Falcons balloon the lead up to 11 points.

The Green Knights cut the Concordia lead to a one-possession game after a basket after the ball and St. Norbert player may or may not have been out of bounds and ran into the scores table. But the Falcons shook off that play with a jump shot from Jordan Johnson.

The Concordia defense came up big late with a steal from sophomore Sam Meerstein (Green Bay, Wis.).

A dunk by Garrett Hoffmann secured the 88-79 victory for the Falcons.

Garrett Hoffman led the game with 26 points in the victory after shooting six from nine from beyond the arc.

Jordan Johnson muscled 20 points while Jared Jurss dished out eight assists.

The Falcons once again thrived on the glass with 35 rebounds. Senior Joey Zietlow had a game-high seven rebounds.

With Concordia Chicago losing, the Falcons host the Sabres of Marian in the NACC Tournament Finals. The tip-off will be at 2:00 inside the R. John Buuck Fieldhouse. The two teams split the season series.
