Sabres Slash Falcons in Second Half

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's basketball team took on the Marian Sabres in a Dec. 21 makeup date inside the R. John Buuck Fieldhouse on Monday night.

The Falcons took a six-point lead in the first half off a made free throw and subsequently made layup by senior Brandon Keller (Plymouth, Wis.).

The Falcons kept battling in the first half and went into the break tied at 39. The Falcons fought with the Sabres through the second half when they went down 51-50 after a Keller dunk.

The Sabres started to open the game up when they took the 60-50 lead halfway through the second half.

Senior Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.) hit a three-point basket to cut the lead down to seven and try to mount a Falcon comeback.

Another Johnson three-pointer, as well as a three from junior Jared Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.), put the Falcons within four with a score of 59-63.

The Sabres went on a 27-13 run to end the second half with a final score of 90-72.

Johnson led the Falcon scoring effort with 26 points. He added five rebounds and three assists.

Keller brought in 16 boards with 16 points and one assist.

The Falcons turn their focus toward Dominican on Wednesday.
