MADISON, Wis. – The CUW men's basketball team took on the Edgewood College Eagles on Saturday night in Madison.
The Eagles came into the matchup with an 8-1 record at home while the Falcons were 5-5 on the road.
The Eagles started on a 16-8 run in the first minutes of the half with points from senior Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.), junior Grant Karsten (Decatur, Ill.), and five from sophomore Matt LeVene (Manitowoc, Wis.) with a layup and a three-pointer.
After another LeVene three-pointer, the Falcons tied the game at 19.
Senior Brandon Keller (Plymouth, Wis.) sank a dun with seven minutes left to give the Falcons their first lead at 23.
A three-pointer and a layup from senior Joey Zietlow (Oak Creek, Wis.) as well as another jumper from Johnson gave the Falcons their biggest lead so far of seven points at 32-25.
The Eagles went on a 15-2 run to end the half with a score of 34-40.
The Falcons struck first in the second half with a made jump shot from junior Jared Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.).
With an assist at 17:39 on a Keller layup, Jurss broke the NACC career assist record. Jurss recorded a total of six assists in the game and left the record at 524 after leaving Edgewood.
The Eagles ended up defeating the Falcons with a final score of 84-70. The Falcons had an off night with only a 39.4% field goal percentage which was down from their season average of 49%.
Keller led the Falcons in both scoring as well as rebounding with a 20 and 15 double-double on the evening.
The Falcons continue their road streak at Dominican on Wednesday.
