Day Defends Javelin Crown at NACC Championships

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The CUW men's track & field team opened the competition at the NACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday afternoon. The Falcons took one individual title on Friday and is in fourth place with 28 points. The Raiders of MSOE lead the field with 65 points. The Blue and White won two medals and qualified six runners to the Saturday finals.

Junior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) defended his crown in the javelin competition with a first-place mark of 48.21 meters. Junior Isaac Zahrt (Kronenwetter, Wis.) reached 42.90 meters in seventh place. Junior Konnor Kingsmore (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was in 13th place at 34.81 meters and sophomore Colin Rerecich (Henderson, Nev.) finished in 17th place at 31.53 meters.

Freshman Mitchell Moeller (Cedarburg, Wis.) took the silver medal in the discus throw at 45.02 meters ahead of senior Gideon Cain (Cedarburg, Wis.) in fourth place at 43.21 meters. Seth Day secured a mark of 36.72 meters in 11th place, junior Theodore Ryder (Denver, Colo.) was 21st at 32.20 meters and junior Isaac Zahrt (Kronenwetter, Wis.) was 22nd at 31.30 meters.

Konnor Kingsmore led the flock in the triple jump in sixth place at 13.07 meters. Junior Sam Heling (De Pere, Wis.) finished with a mark of 12.64 meters in ninth place, with freshman Tevin Matthew (Milwaukee, Wis.) in 13th place at 12.15 meters and Isaac Zahrt in 14th place at 12.13 meters.

Sophomore Ryan Klug (Arlington, Va.) made a splash in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 13th place at 11:27.24.

Freshman Jacob Couillard (Kingsford, Mich.) picked up a fourth-place finish in the shot put in the decathlon at 10.20 meters and fifth place in the high jump at 1.69 meters.

In the 110-meter hurdles, sophomore Jacob Kelm (Cedarburg, Wis.) qualified for the finals in third place at 15.63 as did freshman Bernie Van Den Huevel (Valders, Wis.) in seventh place at 16.42. Kelm also qualified for the 400-meter hurdles finals in fifth place at 59.17. Van Den Huevel finished in 13th place at 1:02.83.

Senior Christian Prohl (Downers Grove, Ill.) qualified for the 400-meter dash finals with a fifth-place time of 51.14. Freshman Dalton Hribar (Oconomowoc, Wis.) finished in 16th place at 53.64 ahead of junior Paul Witto (Charleston, S.C.) in 18th place at 54.22. Colin Rerecich and sophomore Jack Ramstack (Colgate, Wis.) had back-to-back finishes in 22nd and 23rd place respectively at 56.29 and 56.45.

Junior Easton Becker (Ankeny, Iowa) finished as a qualifier for the 800-meter run finals for Saturday with a seventh-place time of 1:58.21. Senior William Ebel (Macomb, Mich.) earned a 14th-place finish at 2:00.97, sophomore Joshua Peterson (Palatine, Ill.) finished in 19th place at 2:07.80 and senior Derrick Folkman (Bonduel, Wis.) was in 23rd place at 2:22.27.

Christian Prohl picked up a ninth-place time of 22.91 to qualify for the 200-meter dash finals. Paul Witto recorded a 19th place time of 23.57, Tevin Matthew was in 23rd place at 24.07 and freshman Matthew Torres (Von Ormy, Texas) was in 29th place at 25.34.

Freshman Zac Ballard (Paramount, Calif.) led the flock in the 100-meter dash in 14th place at 11.32 just ahead of sophomore Robert Taylor (Miami, Fla.) in 15th place at 11.35. Sophomore Nate Bloxdorf (Hartford, Wis.) clocked in at 11.73 in 22nd place, sophomore Ryley McCrery (Pleasant Prairie, Wis.) was 27th at 12.37 and freshman Zamier Marshall (Las Vegas, Nev.) was 28th at 12.66.

The Falcons close the competition on Saturday.
