CUW Takes Fourth at St. Norbert Invitational

DE PERE, Wis. – Saturday saw the CUW men's track and field team finish fourth out of nine teams at the St. Norbert Invitational with 61 points, while UW-Stevens Point claimed first.

Three Falcons contributed points in the 110-meter hurdles as junior Bernie Van Den Heuvel (Valdres, Wis.) took fifth with a time of 16.28, while freshman Zach Wendland (Green Bay, Wis.) finished in sixth at 16.81. Rounding out the CUW lineup was sophomore Brandon Donahue (Slinger, Wis.), who took eighth, crossing the finish line at 16.91 seconds. 

Multiple Falcons also tallied points in the 1500-meter run as senior Timmy Brey (Cedarburg, Wis.) represented CUW with a second-place finish with a time of 4:10.97, while freshman Karl Glick (Boca Raton, Fla.) took three points with his sixth-place finish at 4:23.58.

Meanwhile, the 3000-meter steeplechase saw senior Ryan Klug (Arlington, Va.) take fifth for four team points at 13:00.81. 

In the 100-meter dash, freshman Se'Korrey Thomas (Punta Gorda, Fla.) zoomed across the finish line for a finish of 11.40 seconds, placing him fifth overall.

Concordia also scored points in the 400-meter run. Freshman Isaiah Lubner (Campbellsport, Wis.) tallied eight points and a second-place finish, recording a time of 51.64 seconds. 

In the 400-meter hurdles, the Blue and White added three points with two top-eight finishes as freshmen Josh Sipes (Charleston, Ill.) and Aaron Klug (Arlington, Va.) had times of 1:02.75 and 1:11.14 respectively, for a seventh and eighth place finish. 

Aaron Klug also recorded points in the triple jump, putting together an 11.58 mark for fourth overall and five team points for CUW. 

Meanwhile, Zach Wendland succeeded in the javelin, recording a mark of 44.07 meters for a third-place finish and six team points. 

The field events also added points in the pole vault as junior Nate Waech (West Bend, Wis.) took sixth, clearing a height of 3.98 meters. 

CUW will return to the track and make some noise next Friday and Saturday to compete in the NACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Wisconsin Lutheran College.
