Falcons Secure a Third-Place Finish at St. Norbert

DE PERE, Wis. – The CUW men's track & field team was able to get in a final tune-up before the NACC Championships on Saturday at St. Norbert. The Falcons finished third as a team with 130 points. The Green Knights of St. Norbert won the seven-team competition with 183.5 points. The Falcons won five events on Saturday.

Senior Gideon Cain (Cedarburg, Wis.) was the individual champion in the shot put at 15.02 meters. Freshman Mitchell Moeller (Cedarburg, Wis.) finished in fifth place at 12.44 meters and junior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) secured a sixth-place mark of 12.32 meters.

The Falcons soared in the 800-meter run on Saturday with sophomore Tim Brey (Cedarburg, Wis.) taking the crown at 1:59.93. Junior Easton Becker (Ankeny, Iowa) was right behind in second place at 2:00.02. In fourth place was senior William Ebel (Macomb, Mich.) at 2:00.94 and sophomore Joshua Peterson (Palatine, Ill.) placed 10th at 2:10.04.

Seth Day was victories in the javelin throw at 48.25 meters with junior Isaac Zahrt (Kronenwetter, Wis.) in seventh place at 38.05 meters.

The Falcons were victorious in both relays on Saturday. The 4x100 team of senior Christian Prohl (Downers Grove, Ill.), junior Konnor Kingsmore (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Tevin Matthew and freshman Zac Ballard (Paramount, Calif.) won at 44.99. The 4x400 team of Christian Prohl, Jacob Kelm, William Ebel and Easton Becker clocked in at 3:35.61

Gideon Cain finished in second place in the hammer throw at 50.92 meters. Mitchell Moeller finished in eighth place.

Christian Prohl placed third at 23.54 in the 200-meter dash.

The discus throw saw Gideon Cain collect a second-place mark of 44.76 meters, just ahead of Mitchell Moeller in third place at 41.32 meters. Seth Day reached fifth place at 38.54 meters.

Jacob Kelm collected a second-place time in the 110-meter hurdles at 16.42 and a fourth-place time of 59.73 in the 400-meter hurdles.

The Falcons had four top-10 finishers in the long jump. Tevin Matthew led the flock in fifth place at 5.99 meters. Sophomore Austin Thur (Bloomer, Wis.) was in eighth place at 5.82 meters, Isaac Zahrt was ninth at 5.76 meters and sophomore Nate Bloxdorf (Hartford, Wis.) in 10th place at 5.75 meters.

Zac Ballard was the fastest Falcon in the 100-meter dash at 11.53.

Jacob Couillard was ninth in the pole vault at 3.01 meters.
