Falcons Compete in South Carolina on Saturday

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The CUW men's track & field team closed the weekend at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational on Saturday afternoon. With a field that was represented with student-athletes from NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Canada, Coastal Carolina and Tiffin won the competition with 20 points.

In the shot put pit, senior Gideon Cain (Cedarburg, Wis.) finished in fifth place with a mark of 15.43 meters. Junior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) finished in 23rd place at 12.25 meters and junior Michael Brookshire (Jenny Lind, Calif.) landed in 36th place at 9.94 meters.

Gideon Cain collected an 11th place finish in the discus at 41.22 meters.

The mile run saw sophomore Tim Brey (Cedarburg, Wis.) finish in 11th place at 4:27.35.

In the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Jacob Kelm (Cedarburg, Wis.) collected a 14th-place finish at 59.55. Freshman Bernie Van Den Heuvel (Valders, Wis.) was in 35th place at 1:09.27.

Junior Isaac Zahrt (Kronenwetter, Wis.) reached 11.78 meters in the triple jump in 27th place.

The Falcons posted back-to-back finishes in the 200-meter dash. Senior Christian Prohl (Downers Grove, Ill.) was in 62nd place at 23.69 and junior Paul Witto (Charleston, S.C.)  finished in 63rd place at 23.78 points.

The birds finished the competition with a time of 3:38.05 in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Christian Prohl, freshman Nate Waech (West Bend, Wis.), senior William Ebel (Macomb, Mich.) and junior Easton Becker (Ankeny, Iowa) finished in 17th place.

The Falcons return to action on April 2 at the Wisconsin Private College Championship at Carroll.
