CUW Secures a Sixth-Place Finish at Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The CUW men's track & field team competed at the Wisconsin-Whitewater Rex Foster Twilight Invitational on Sunday. The Falcons finished in sixth place with 65 points. The host Warhawks won the competition with 169.5 points.

Senior Gideon Cain (Cedarburg, Wis.) shattered the school record by three meters with a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 50.57 meters. Freshman Mitchell Moeller (Cedarburg, Wis.) finished in 19th place at 34.33 and junior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) finished in 29th place at 29.17 meters.

Gideon Cain picked up the bronze medal in the discus throw at 45.11 meters. Mitchell Moeller was in fourth place at 43.47 meters. Seth Day secured a 16th-place finish at 35.17 meters and junior Isaac Zahrt (Kronenwetter, Wis.) reached 32.81 meters in 22nd place.  

Gideon Cain was the individual champion in the shot put where he won at 15.29 meters. Seth Day and Mitchell Moeller finished in 11th place at 12.67 meters.

Three Falcons finished in the top-10 in the triple jump on Sunday afternoon. Junior Konnor Kingsmore (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished in third place at 13.44 meters. Junior Samuel Heling (De Pere, Wis.) took fourth place at 12.75 meters and Tevin Matthew rounded out the flock in sixth place at 12.05 meters.

Sophomore Jacob Kelm (Cedarburg, Wis.) collected the bronze medal in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.42. Freshman Bernie Van Den Heuvel (Valders, Wis.) was 10th at 17.24. Kelm also finished seventh in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:00.57 and Van Den Heuvel was 12th at 1:06.79.

The Falcons finished in fifth place in the 4x100 meter relay. The team of senior Christian Prohl (Downers Grove, Ill.), freshman Zac Ballard (Paramount, Calif.), Konnor Kingsmore and freshman Pierre Summers III (Columbus, Ga.) crossed the finish line at 44.48.

The 4x400 meter relay team of junior Easton Becker (Ankeny, Iowa), senior William Ebel (Macomb, Mich.), sophomore Jack Ramstack (Colgate, Wis.) and junior Paul Witto (Charleston, S.C.) finished fifth at 3:47.15.

Seth Day led the bird in the javelin throw in fifth place at 43.21 meters. Isaac Zahrt finished in 12th place at 37.11 meters and sophomore Colin Rerecich (Henderson, Nev.) was 21st at 28.17 meters.

Sophomore Tim Brey (Cedarburg, Wis.) posted an eighth-place finish in the 1500-meter run at 4:09.58.

In the 800-meter run, Tim Brey led the flock in eighth place at 2:01.83. Easton Becker broke into the top-10 in 10th place at 2:01.89. William Ebel earned a 17th-place finish at 2:08.31. Jack Ramstack was in 26th place at 2:26.32 and senior Derrick Folkman (Bonduel, Wis.) finished in 27th place at 2:29.71.

In the 400-meter dash, Christian Prohl collected a 10th-place time of 52.03. Paul Witto ran a time of 55.72 in 23rd place and Colin Rerecich sat in 26th place at 57.07

Isaac Zahrt led CUW in the long jump at 5.69 meters in 13th place. Sophomore Alex Tran (Wausau, Wis.) took 16th place at 5.28 meters.

The 3000-meter steeplechase saw sophomore Ryan Klug (Arlington, Va.) collect a 14th-place finish at 11:50.51.

Six Falcons ran in the 200-meter dash on Sunday. Christian Pohl led the flock in 16th place at 23.89, Tevin Matthew was in 29th place at 25.11, Zac Ballard was in 32d place at 25.70, Pierre Summers III was 33rd at 26.11, Freshman Matthew Torres (Von Ormy, Texas) was 35th at 26.51 and freshman Zamier Marshall (Las Vegas, Nev.) finished in 36th place at 28.57.

The Falcons will return to action on Thursday at Wisconsin Lutheran.
