Falcons Finish Third at Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Falcons competed for the first time in 2022 at the Carthage Firebird Opener on Saturday. The Falcons finished in third place at 84 points. The host Firebirds won the competition with 113 points.

Sophomore Tim Brey (Cedarburg, Wis.) was the individual champion in the 3000-meter run at 8:46.21.

The Blue and White secured 11 points in the shot put on Saturday. Senior Gideon Cain (Cedarburg, Wis.) earned the silver medal at 15.41 meters. Freshman Mitchell Moeller (Cedarburg, Wis.) finished in seventh place at 12.57 meters, just ahead of junior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) in eighth place at 12.40 meters. Cain also finished in fifth place in the weight throw at 16.07 meters.

The Falcons scored 13 points in the 400-meter dash. Senior Christian Prohl (Downers Grove, Ill.) finished in second place at 55.29. In sixth place was freshman Nate Waech (West Bend, Wis.) at 56.45 and freshman Dalton Hribar (Oconomowoc, Wis.) at 57.38 in seventh place.

Nate Waech won the silver medal at pole vault with a mark of 3.65 meters.

Sophomore Jacob Kelm (Cedarburg, Wis.) recorded a third-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles at 8.27.

Freshman Antwoine Thomas (Lehigh Acres, Fla.) took home a fourth-place finish in the long jump at 6.54 meters.

The triple jump saw a back-to-back finish for the Falcons with freshman Andrew Johnson (Springfield, Mo.) in fourth place at 12.67 meters and junior Konnor Kingsmore in fifth place at 12.38 meters.

Junior Easton Becker (Ankeny, Iowa) clocked in at 2:03.53 in fifth place in the 800-meter run.

Christian Prohl scored for the Falcons again in the 200-meter dash in sixth place at 24.19. Junior Paul Witto (Charleston, S.C.) cracked the top-10 in 10th place at 24.52.

In the high jump, freshman Jacob Couillard (Kingsford, Mich.) finished in seventh place at 1.67 meters.

William Ebel led the flock in the mile run in 10th place at 4:49.38.

CUW closed the day with a seventh-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay with the team of Easton Becker, sophomore Jack Ramstack (Colgate, Wis.), sophomore Ryan Klug (Arlington, Va.) and sophomore Joshua Peterson (Palatine, Ill.) at 3:54.55.

The Falcons will compete again on Saturday at Wisconsin-Whitewater.
