Falcons Finish Fourth at NACC Championships

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The CUW men's track & field team completed the 2022 NACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons closed the two-day tournament in fourth place with 104 points. St. Norbert edged the defending champions in MSOE by five points with 178.50 points. CUW two events on Saturday to finish with three victories and collected nine medals.

The fourth-place finish was the best for the Falcons since they placed third in 2018.

Senior Gideon Cain (Cedarburg, Wis.) defended his crown in the shot put competition with a winning mark of 15.50 meters. Freshman Mitchell Moeller (Cedarburg, Wis.) finished in seventh place at 12.65 meters and junior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) was eighth at 12.40 meters.

Cain was also victorious in the hammer throw at 49.79 meters with Mitchell Moeller in eighth place at 40.78 meters.

Senior Christian Prohl (Downers Grove, Ill.) won the silver medal in the 400-meter dash at 50.61 and posted an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash at 23.14 points.

Sophomore Jacob Kelm (Cedarburg, Wis.) collected the silver medal in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.28, with freshman Bernie Van Den Heuvel (Valders, Wis.) in ninth place at 16.58. Kelm also finished with the silver medal in the 400-meter hurdles at 57.01.

Junior Easton Becker (Ankeny, Iowa) brought home the bronze medal in the 800-meter run at 1:56.47.

CUW brought home the bronze medal in the 4x100 meter relay. The team of sophomore Robert Taylor (Miami, Fla.), freshman Zac Ballard (Paramount, Calif.), junior Konnor Kingsmore (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Christian Prohl posted a time of 43.50.

The birds just missed on medals in fifth place in the 4x400 meter relay. The team of Easton Becker, senior William Ebel (Macomb, Mich.), freshman Dalton Hribar (Oconomowoc, Wis.) and Christian Prohl clocked in at 3:32.76.

Sophomore Tim Brey (Cedarburg, Wis.) led the flock in the 1500-meter run in fifth place at 4:03.91 and in the 5000-meter run at 16:04.46.

Freshman Jacob Couillard (Kingsford, Mich.) finished the decathlon in sixth place at 4272 points.

Freshman Tevin Matthew (Milwaukee, Wis.) led CUW in the long jump at 5.91 meters in 13th place.

Saturday was the final team competition for the Falcons in 2022.
