NACC Tournament Preview: Women's Basketball

MEQUON, Wis. -- Fifth-seeded Concordia Wisconsin will travel to fourth-seeded Dominican on Wednesday for a 7 pm NACC Tournament opening-round game.

The Falcons and Stars split the two meetings this season, with the home teams winning each game. Dominican won 72-60 on November 23 after limiting Concordia Wisconsin to 33.9 percent and forcing 19 turnovers. The Falcons then won 71-63 on January 23 after making eight free throws in the final three minutes to secure the win.

The NACC Tournament is played on three days (Wednesday, Friday, Sunday), with the higher seed hosting each game.

Concordia Wisconsin enters with a 14-11 overall record and had a seven-game winning streak during January. They rank second in the NACC for free throws made per game (14.2) and rebounding margin (7.3). The Falcons have two outside shooters that have excelled this season, with Clara Chambers ranking fourth in the league with 55 3-pointers made, while also ranking fifth in free-throw percentage (75.3) and free-throws made (70). Emily Hafemann has been highly efficient shooting the basketball this year, ranking eighth in the conference for field goal percentage (45.0) and 3-point percentage (37.2). Camryn Szolyga is also seventh in the NACC for field goal percentage (45.5).

During wins this season, the Falcons shot 43.2 percent from the floor and 36.0 percent from deep. They also hauled in 46.5 rebounds and committed just 11.8 turnovers in their 14 wins.

Dominican enters with an 18-7 overall record, had a seven-game winning streak and has won its last four contests. The Stars lead the NACC in field goal attempts per game (65.4), offensive rebounds per game (14.7) and blocks per game (6.7). Alexis Hoskins is a go-to player for the Stars and ranks in the top-10 statistically in the NACC for six categories. Timiya Ray is the best offensive rebounder in the league with 84 and ranks in the top-10 in nine statistical categories for the NACC.

During wins this season, the Stars had 15.4 assists and 11.1 steals

Tournament champion is the NACC's automatic qualifier in the 2020 NCAA Division III Championship.
