Eagles Slip Past Falcons in NACC Quarterfinals

MADISON, Wis. - The Concordia Wisconsin women's basketball team fell to the Edgewood Eagles in the NACC Tournament Quarterfinals on Wednesday night by a score of 71-54. 

Junior Aubrey DeBauch (Gillet, Wis.) notched the second-highest-scoring game of her career, leading the contest with 23 points.

Senior Deidre Lassiter (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) kicked off the game with a steal for the Falcons on Edgewood's opening possession, forcing the first of Concordia's 11 steals in the match.

After the Eagles began to collect a lead, the Falcons battled back, ending the first quarter on a 12-9 run. DeBauch accounted for the final six points for Concordia in the frame.

Edgewood took hold of the game in the second quarter, consistently finding points to take a 40-21 lead into the break. Lassiter, DeBauch, and junior Lindsey Lonigro (Deerfield, Wis.) recorded field goals for the Falcons in the quarter.

DeBauch took command of the hardwood for the Falcons to open the second half, scoring twelve of the team's sixteen points, including the opening ten. 

Concordia also went 6-6 from the free throw line in the period, making a small cut into the Eagles' advantage.

Lonigro led all players with an even ten points in the final quarter after burying a pair of three-pointers. Concordia managed to draw closer to Edgewood as the frame developed, as Lonigro's second triple pulled the Falcons within 13, but the deficit proved insurmountable. 

After sophomore Ava Booth (Plymouth, Wis.) put away a jump shot in the final 90 seconds of play, the final score granted the Eagles a 71-54 win.

The Falcons deposited 12 second-chance points in the match while shutting down Edgewood in the metric, allowing zero.

Edgewood will face St. Norbert in the NACC Semifinals on Friday.
