Falcons run away from Cougars in second half

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia Wisconsin controlled the second half outscoring Concordia Chicago by 25 points, which led to a demanding 81-47 NACC victory on Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a 90-minute delay in the men's game prior, the Cougars came out and hung with the Falcons through the first 20 minutes of action and trailed by nine points at the intermission. Concordia Wisconsin pulled away in the second half after shooting 18-of-32 shooting (56.3 percent) and holding Concordia Chicago to 9-of-31 (29.0) percent from the floor.
- The Cougars didn't help themselves by committing 24 fouls, which led to the Falcons making 14 free throws. The hosts also commanded the boards by holding a 56-26 difference, had 22 assists on 31 field goals and stole 12 passes. In addition, the Falcons scored 52 points in the paint and scored 18 points off turnovers.
- Sophomore Camryn Szolyga (Waukesha, Wis.) scored a career-high 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting, to go along with seven rebounds and two steals. Senior Clara Chambers (Mineral Point, Wis.) had 16 points and seven rebounds, while freshman Lindsey Smitsdorff (Coon Rapids, Minn.) recorded 14 points and seven rebounds. Junior Emily Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.) scored 12 points and senior Kaitlyn Foster (Janesville, Wis.) had six assists.
- Concordia Chicago was led by Tara Hastings who had 15 points, while Michaela Thornton tallied 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.
