Women's Basketball uses grit to advance to CIT Championship

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Grit and toughness were displayed by Concordia Wisconsin for 40 minutes on Friday night during a 48-46 NACC victory inside Geiseman Gymnasium. The Falcons advanced to the annual CIT Championship after the Cougars missed a late 3-pointer that would have been disheartening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Concordia Wisconsin led by six points entering the final quarter of play and held that single-digit lead, but Concordia Chicago made a 3-pointer with 19 seconds to play to make the game interesting. After a Falcons missed a free throw, the Cougars worked their way down the court and launched a 3-pointer at the buzzer that was off the mark.
- The game was much different than the meeting between the two teams 10 days ago, when Concordia Wisconsin ran away from Concordia Chicago by 31 points. In this matchup, they won the rebounding battle 50-37, but committed 19 turnovers.
- Junior Emily Hafemann (Hales Corners, Wis.) led the team with 15 points (5-of-10 free throws), while sophomore Camryn Szolyga (Waukesha, Wis.) had 10 points and seven rebounds. Junior Hannah Boettcher (Columbus, Wis.) tallied 10 points and five rebounds. Senior Kaitlyn Foster dished out four assists and grabbed seven rebounds, while redshirt junior Clara Chambers (Mineral Point, Wis.) had 10 rebounds.
- Concordia Chicago was led by Charisma Robinson who had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- Concordia Wisconsin will compete against Concordia Nebraska, an NAIA scholarship school, in the CIT Championship on Saturday at 5:30 pm.
