Falcons Fall to Massachusetts

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – The Falcon ACHA team continued their time in the ACHA Division II National Tournament with a matchup against Massachusetts-Amherst.

The Minutemen scored first and took a 1-0 lead early in the first period.  They finished the first period with a 4-0 lead heading into the first break.

The Minutemen broke out to a 7-0 lead to start off the second period.

The Falcons found the back of the net for the first time with four minutes remaining in the second period.  Senior Sam Weiss (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) netted the goal with an assist from senior Rex Staudacher (Yorkville, Ill.).

The teams headed into the final frame with a 7-1 lead in favor of the Minutemen.

Sophomore Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) opened the third period with a powerplay goal with assists from Staudacher and senior Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.).  Senior Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.) got one to fall with just over six and a half minutes left off a pass from seniors Lucas Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) and Thomas Dyball (Papillion, Neb.).

The Falcons fell by a score of 7-3 and will finish up pool play Sunday against Dakota.
