The Mequondulac Cup Comes Home!

MEQUON, Wis., - The CUW ACHA team finished their home-and-home series with the Marian Sabres on Friday night.

The No. 9 Sabres looked to end the Falcons' undefeated home season inside the Ozaukee Ice Center but fell just short by a 3-4 score.

The Falcons struck first on a powerplay in the first period off a slow trickling goal from senior Alex Way (Ottawa, Ont.).  Way was assisted by seniors Lucas Kreuser (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) and Sam Weiss (Glen Ellyn, Ill.).

The Sabres responded in the second period with two unanswered goals to kick off the frame.  Way netted the game-tying goal off another assist from Kreuser as well as one from junior Ian Malcolmson (Waukesha, Wis.).

The teams headed into the third period knotted at two goals a piece.

The Blue and White showed why they are ranked above the Sabres with a 2-1 goal advantage in the third period.  Sophomore Tommy Cassel (Grafton, Wis.) netted the first off a pass from seniors Rex Staudacher ( Yorkville, Ill.) and Easton Williams (Racine, Wis.).

Like Thursday night, the Sabres netted the final goal, but it was not enough to overcome the Falcon offense.

The Blue and White head to Aurora on December 2 to take on the Spartans in another NCHL matchup.
